It is no mystery that belt-titghening is keeping more and more of us at home these days. The so-called “stay-cation” trend has taken off this year as we all watch our budgets and save our pennies.
To be honest, the dreary weather this summer hasn’t helped either, but these two factors are creating some outstanding holiday opportunities for the savvy traveller prepared to venture just a little further. Europe’s hotel industry is feeling the crunch and trying to fill some rooms by offering eye-popping, low rates on some of the finest rooms in the U.K. and the Continent.

Just think about all these cities have to offer: international cuisine, nightlife that will keep you dancing till dawn, a historical overview of the Western world, or the finest art modern man has produced. What’s not to like about enjoying the pleasures of Europe’s finest cities on a “staycation” budget, and staying in a fantastic cheap hotel you might not be able to afford at other times? This is your ticket to leave home, broaden your horizons this summer, and get the break from the routine you so desperately need!
Grab a friend and take off for some pub-hopping or non-stop shopping! Kidnap a lover for a romantic rendezvous on the banks of the Tiber, or the Seine, or perhaps the Spree! Take the whole family and educate them at the finest museums and art galleries anywhere. Why not? With top-shelf, bijou hotels masquerading as cheap hotels, another opportunity may not come around like this for awhile.
Get spontaneous, and open yourself up to a wonderful adventure. Choose a destination that will whet your appetite for life again. Book a room in a luxury hotel that is centuries old or wet-paint new, and pay discounted prices you simply won’t believe. Don’t give in to recession depression. Life is for living, and this is your chance to do some real living at less than half price. Book a room with a rate reserved for cheap hotels, but with accommodations that will pamper you in style and comfort every moment you are there.
